Fall Activities Coming Soon
With summer reading in the books, the library staff is looking forward to fall. Fall story times begin September 9th at all library locations. Also, be on the lookout for our regular movie matinees as well as the ever popular Pumpkin Painting program which will be held near the end of October. Don’t forget to contact the library when the book reports and projects begin. We’re always happy to help our local students in any way we can by assisting them in locating sources or by providing access to our computers, printers and copiers.
We will be having our 2nd Annual Quilt Expo on Saturday, Sept. 28th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Start the day off by browsing the quilts that have been entered into the contest as well as the Ohio Donor Quilt and a variety of hand-made quilts that will be on display throughout the library. Sit with experienced quilters and ask questions or even try your hand at quilting with special guest Rosalie Story from The Hemlock Grove Quilters. There will be displays from local vendors including a display of quilting now vs. quilting in the past from the Pomeroy Fabric shop and an antique quilt display from the Chester Shade Historical Society.
Tea and treats will be served at noon with guest speaker Cathy Cooper giving a presentation beginning at 1 p.m. Judging of the quilts will take place in the late afternoon from 2 – 4 p.m. Three awards valued at $50 each will be given for the best of show in the following categories; antique quilts, embroidery and applique. This year’s awards are sponsored by the Middleport-Pomeroy Rotary Club. All quilts must be pre-registered from Sept 2nd – 25th. Call the library at 740-992-5813 for a complete list of contest rules or for more information on any of our upcoming programs. We hope to see you this fall at the library!
